Flash Loader for ZiLOG Z8 Encore!
Evaluation Version

The Evaluation Version of the Flash Loader is made available so that you can try it out before you buy an object or source license.  Use is subject to the full terms of the evaluation license agreement.  You must agree to these terms before you may begin evaluating or using the Flash Loader.

Configuration

The Evaluation Version is pre-configured by ECROS Technology and no user configuration is possible.  Options are fixed as follows (see also the User Manual):

• banner - the banner is “ECROS Technology Z8 Encore! Flash Loader, vX.XX ”, where X.XX is the Flash Loader version number, currently 1.20
• serial number - instead of a serial number, the message “Evaluation only!” is displayed
• clock frequency - the Z8 Encore! clock frequency must be 18.432 MHz
• UART - the Flash Loader uses UART0 at a data rate of 9,600 bit/s
• pause time - on power-up or reset, the Flash Loader pauses for 100 ms waiting to receive an escape character at the UART before executing the user program
• Flash pages erased - the “z” command erases Flash pages 0 and 8 to 127, which means that a device with 64 Kbytes of Flash must be used and pages 4 to 7 are available for data that survives a firmware update (pages 1, 2 and 3 are occupied by the Flash Loader itself)

This configuration is suitable for use with the Evaluation Board included in the Z8 Encore!™ Flash Microcontroller Development Kit (ZiLOG part Z8ENCORE000ZCO).

Obtaining the Evaluation Version

1. Read the ECROS Technology Terms of Evaluation Software Licenses and make sure that you are prepared to comply with these terms.  A copy of these terms is included in the software download.  You can also download a PDF Version if you wish.
    
2. Download the software (zip format, about 13 Kbytes).  Also download the User Manual if you have not already done so.  Documentation is not included in the software download.
    
3. Enter your name and e-mail address in the form below.  A name is optional, but an e-mail address is required.  ECROS Technology will contact you at this address about the software.  Under no circumstances will your contact information be disclosed to third parties.
    
4. Click the button at the bottom of this form.  This signals your willingness to comply with the terms of the license agreement.  An e-mail is sent to ECROS Technology containing your contact information.   Your license and the zip file password will be sent back to you †.

† Your license will be sent to your e-mail address on the computer on which you complete the form.  However, the license is granted to you as the owner and user of the e-mail address you specify on the form.  This allows you to request the license from somewhere other than your "home" location.  The license is void if you provide an invalid e-mail address and terminates if you cancel or abandon the e-mail address.
